Tau Beta Sigma is a co-educational national honorary band sorority dedicated to serving collegiate band programs. The sorority operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that they require of their band. Our goals are not only to provide the band with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership, and social contacts. Tau Beta Sigma also places a special emphasis on the encouragement and the advancement of women in the band profession.
Gamma Kappa is the University of Connecticut chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. With 32 active members, the chapter has served the University of Connecticut band programs on and off the field since 1964. Uniform organization and distribution, chair setups at Jorgensen, and helping with various projects in the music department are just a few ways the chapter stays actively involved in and outside of UConn. With many years of service in the making, the chapter maintains strong connections with its alumni and looks forward to welcoming new members.

Hi! My name is Mikayla and I'm the President of the Gamma Kappa chapter of Tau Beta Sigma here at UConn! I'm a junior economics major and a member of the UConn Marching Band and Pep Band, where I play the clarinet! Since becoming a member of Tau Beta Sigma, I've been surrounded by sisters who inspire me every day to grow, lead, and honor the values of our organization. We're committed to creating an inclusive environment where band members can grow through leadership, musicianship, and service. It's an honor to be the president of this chapter and I look forward to having a great year! |
