Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc.

Founded by twenty-seven visionary women, Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. was established on November 8th, 1998, as the Nation’s first ever South Asian Interest-Based Sorority. Although Kappa Phi Gamma was founded as a South Asian interest sorority, we expand the warmth of our Sisterhood to any and all motivated women, willing to make a difference in their community and to uphold the eight principles that the sisterhood is based upon. To date, we are located at 20 undergraduate universities and have over 850 members.

Message from the Chapter President

Hii! My name is Jocelyn, and I am honored to serve as the President of the Upsilon Charter of Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Incorporated here at UConn! When I first joined KPhiG, I was searching for a space that celebrated diversity, sisterhood, and empowerment. From the moment I met the sisters, I knew I had found a community where I could both embrace my identity and challenge myself to grow as a leader.

Kappa Phi Gamma has given me more than I could have imagined— it has introduced me to inspiring women who continuously uplift one another, taught me the importance of service and cultural awareness, and allowed me to step into leadership roles that have shaped my confidence and voice. This organization has become my home away from home, and I feel endlessly grateful to be surrounded by sisters who share the same passion for giving back to our communities and empowering those around us.

Serving as president is not only a responsibility I hold with pride, but also an opportunity to continue the legacy of resilience, leadership, and love that defines Kappa Phi Gamma. I am excited to represent this chapter and to work alongside such motivated and compassionate women as we continue to grow, serve, and inspire.
