While many students may prefer to spend their breaks catching up on sleep, hitting the slopes, or laying on a sandy beach, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers a great alternative to the typical student’s break through the Greek Alternative Break program.
Modeled after UConn Community Outreach Alternative Breaks, the UConn Greek Alternative Break program first began in Spring 2012 and was a success. Students who participate in GAB trade in their traditional break and travel to assist a domestic or global community in need. During GAB, students make an impact in a community by completing manual labor or lending a hand in other tasks. UConn’s GAB program is an opportunity for students to live our shared Greek value of Service, and form connections with other Greeks and communities in need.
Due to staff capacity, there are no Greek Alternative Break trips scheduled for 2016-2017. However, there are many options through Community Outreach:
